ISOTRON was incorporated in 1989, with the goal of covering the electrical, instrumentation and control areas within the capital goods corporate group of the former INI (today SEPI). This holding company was led by BABCOCK WILCOX ESPAÑOLA (BWE), which was ISOTRON's main shareholder at that time. Since 2007 it belongs 100% to ISASTUR.
The company's main activities are the design, supply, execution and commissioning of electrical installations, instrumentation and control, mainly, in the following sectors:
Other sectors within the activity of our company are the steel industry (steel and aluminum), chemical, cement, mining, food, paper, automotive, etc.
During its first years the company developed its activity in the Spanish market, for companies such as ENDESA, ASLAND, CADAGUA, PRAXAIR, NESTLÉ, ASTILLEROS ESPAÑOLES, ACERALIA, AZSA, etc. but soon enough, it showed interest in the international market which led to important projects in South and Central America, North Africa and other countries such as China or Yemen.
ISOTRON's first steps abroad were taken precisely by the parent company, at that time, BWE, participating in large projects, mostly in electricity generation, such as the assembly of the Thermoelectric Power Plant JORF LASFAR in Morocco, the expansion of the FERROMINERA DEL ORINOCO plant in Puerto Ordaz (Venezuela), or in the supply of equipment and services for the Thermoelectric Power Plants MEJILLONES in Chile, TRINITARIA in Ecuador, and YAE HE KOU in China.
Alongside the execution of these projects, ISOTRON established subsidiaries and agencies in the countries where it carried out its work. The first ISOTRON subsidiary abroad was established in Morocco in 1994, followed by others: Venezuela also in 1994, Chile in 1997, Argentina in 1998, Algeria in 2008, Brazil in 2012, Uruguay in 2013, Peru and El Salvador in 2014, Mexico in 2015, Aruba in 2017, Colombia in 2019 and Guatemala in 2020. Beside these countries, where we have a stable presence, ISOTRON has worked and still works on a project basis, in countries as varied as Costa Rica, Ecuador, USA, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, United Kingdom, Russia, Angola, China, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Tunisia, Yemen, etc.
ISOTRON has been involved in the development of projects linked to renewable energies since its inception, initially in Spain and later in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, Aruba, etc. as those have been introduced in different countries. Reason why renewable energies constitute the main sector of activity for ISOTRON nowadays, working directly for the large actors in the sector: AES, ENGIE, ENEL, EDPR, IBERDROLA, VESTAS, NORDEX-ACCIONA, SIEMENS-GAMESA, CANADIAN SOLAR, WPD, OPDE, etc.
In recent years, as a result of the impact that renewable energies have had on the development of electricity transmission and distribution networks, and given the extensive experience that both ISOTRON and ISASTUR have accumulated in this field, ISOTRON has developed strongly in the electrical infrastructure sector (lines and substations) at an international level. Thus, projects of substations and lines have been carried out in Spain, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Venezuela, Algeria or Morocco, to give some examples, both for clients related to the renewable market and for electricity distribution and transport companies: REE/IBERDROLA/EDP (Spain), UTE (Uruguay), TRANSELEC/SAESA (Chile), REI (Peru), l'ONEE (Morocco), SONELGAZ (Algeria), etc.
Within the traditional sectors of ISOTRON, the following ones stand out:
