2. PREVENTIVE MEASURES REGARDING SOURCES OF IGNITION
In places where the risk of fire or explosion exist, it is strictly forbidden to smoke, light a flame or introduce matches, lighters or any other ignition device. Said prohibition is to be duly signposted.
Combustible materials are not to exist or be deposited within a radius of at least 1.5 m around any device that raises the ambient temperature.
Before carrying out welding work or any other job that generates sparks, flames or increases the temperature, combustible products in the vicinity of the operation are to be removed, screening or covering with fireproof blankets or any other effective means any such products that cannot be removed.
In areas with a fire or explosion hazard, no operation that might generate an increase in temperature is to be carried out without the corresponding Special Works Permit, issued by authorised personnel.
In premises or installations in which the static electricity supposes a fire or explosion hazard, all the elements in which this might be produced are to remain permanently earthed and periodic checks are to be carried out to verify the continuity of said earths.
