6. Personal protection equipment
- Safety helmet.
- Safety footwear with reinforced toecaps.
- Safety gloves for mechanical jobs.
- Lower-back belt (depending on each case).
Although the following criteria should be taken into account:
- Full protective clothing may hinder movements in some cases.
- Personal protection equipment (goggles, masks, etc.) could affect proper visibility if they are very bulky.
- Inappropriate gloves reduce manual dexterity and affect the correct grasping of loads.
- Work clothing can interfere in handling if it has large pockets, belts or other elements susceptible to snagging and thus provoke an accident.
Personal protection equipment should not interfere in the capacity to perform movements, is not to impede vision or reduce manual dexterity. Pockets, belts or other elements that can easily snag are to be avoided. Clothing should be comfortable and not tight-fitting.
