7º. Synchronize the rhythm of compressions-insufflations.
One first-aider: 15 compressions / 2 insufflations.
Two first-aiders: 5 compressions / 1 insufflation.
8º. Check the efficacy of respiration and massage.
To check respiration, you have to observe the expansion and retraction of the thorax, listening for and feeling the exiting air during passive expiration.
To check the efficacy of the massage, press the carotid artery during compressions in an adult and the brachial artery in infants.
Periodically check whether spontaneous circulation has resumed or not.
To do so, suspend external cardiac massage for no more than 5 seconds and look for a spontaneous pulse.
