3.1. Exits and areas where people and/or vehicles transit in the workplace and especially exits and areas where vehicles transits which are designed for evacuation in the case of an emergency must be kept free of obstacles so that it is possible to use them at any time without hindrance.
3.2. Workplaces, including toilets and their respective equipment and facilities, are to be cleaned periodically and whenever necessary to maintain them in suitable conditions of hygiene at all times. Accordingly, the characteristics of floors, ceilings and walls must allow said cleaning and maintenance for this purpose.
Refuse, grease spills, waste hazardous substances and any other waste products that may cause accidents or pollute the work environment must be promptly removed.
3.3. Cleaning operations must not constitute a source of hazard in themselves for the workers who carry them out or for third parties and so should be carried out with this aim in mind at the most appropriate times, in the most suitable way and with the most appropriate means.
3.4. Workplaces and, in particular, their facilities should be the object of periodical maintenance so that the working conditions always satisfy project specifications, promptly correcting any deficiencies that may affect the health and safety of workers.
In the case of protective installations, maintenance should also include controlling their functioning.
