2. Elemental Rules for acting
The elemental rules for acting are the following:
- PROTECT the environment of the injured person so that there is no danger for said person or for the person giving aid.
- WARN of the existence of the accident, activating the emergency system.
- HELP the injured person, checking the following in this order:
- 1. Consciousness.
- 2. Breathing.
- 3. Pulse.
Once the injured person has been examined, we may be faced with four different situations, namely:
- Conscious casualties.
- Unconscious casualties.
- Casualties suffering respiratory arrest.
- Casualties suffering cardiorespiratory arrest.
The steps to follow in each of the aforementioned cases are shown in the following scheme.
