RISK FACTORS
- Getting on and off transport vehicles, positioning objects, strapping down parts, etc.
- Climbing up and down storeroom stairways/ladders.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Rules for acting
- Fixed stairways and ladders:
- When going up or down stairs, hold the handrail.
- The use of a double safety lanyard on the harness is mandatory when climbing a rope ladder.
- Step on all the steps, without skipping any.
- Inform of any anomaly observed on stairways or their handrails.
- Storeroom ladders:
- Use portable ladders or platforms correctly. Do not use other elements instead (crates, tables, etc.).
- Never pass from a ladder onto shelving.
- Do not handle heavy and/or voluminous loads from portable ladders.
- Step ladders must be equipped with safety braces and are not to be used as support ladders.
- Support ladders must have non-slip devices at the bottom or be equipped with a hooking system at the top.
- Do not use defective or slippery ladders.
- Use a fall-arrest harness anchored to a strong, stable point to access heights above 1.5 metres.

- Handrails of more than 90 cm on fixed stairways.
- Non-slip surfaces on steps or rungs.
Personal protection
- Safety footwear with non-slip soles.
- Fall-arrest harness above 1.5 m (vertical ladders, portable ladders).
