Risk Assessment: Construction and Civil Works
Workers Affected by Works Hazards
RISK
--- Flooding.
RISK FACTORS
- Working in pits, cavities or trenches.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Rules for acting
- Anticipate the installation of pumps for evacuating the water if necessary.
- Evacuate if needs be.
Personal protection
- Rubber boots and waterproof clothing.
RISK
150 Thermal Contacts.
370 Exposure to non-ionizing radiation.
RISK FACTORS
- Burns (due to the cutting disc of machine-tools, disc saws, touching hot objects, lack of skill, machine maintenance operations).
- Burns caused by some element during aluminothermal welding work or during the storage process.
- Use of electric arc welding and/or oxy-cutting equipment.
- Burns resulting from an electric arc.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Rules for acting
- Maintaining equipment in a good state of repair:
- OXYACETYLENE. Torch, nozzle, pressure gauge, hose, reducing valve and non-return valves.
- ELECTRIC ARC. Cables, plugs, electrode holder and earth clamp.
- To avoid electric arcs, all the precautions and procedures mentioned in the measures listed for preventing an electric hazard are to be applied.
- ALUMINOTHERMAL. Mould, tongs, ignition gun or torch.
- If possible, several moulds are to be used when diverse welds have to be carried out in succession. Alternating the use of these avoids handling very hot moulds.
Personal protection
- Leather gloves or mittens and apron. Gloves for aluminothermal welding (to be requested from the store when this type of work needs to be done).
- Welding screen.
- Leather leggings or sleeves (or long gloves).
- Safety footwear.
- Jobs with an electrical hazard: those protections indicated for controlling the risk of electrical Contact.
