Work on Electrical Installations and in premises presenting a fire or explosion hazard
Definitions and concepts:
12. Authorised worker
A worker that the Organisation authorises to carry out certain jobs involving an electrical hazard on the basis of his capacity to perform this work appropriately in accordance with the procedures established in Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001.
An Authorised Worker may carry out the following work:
- Operations and manoeuvres to suppress or re-establish the power supply in LV installations (in accordance with Appendix II, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Replacement of fuses in LV installations (in accordance with letter C, Appendix III, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Manipulation, measuring and checking of LV installations (in accordance with Appendix IV, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Assisting qualified workers in the measuring, testing and checking of HV installations (in accordance with Appendix IV, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Manipulation of HV installations (in accordance with Appendix IV, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- • Preparation of jobs in the vicinity of LV installations (in accordance with Appendix V, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Carrying out and supervision of work in the vicinity of High Voltage installations (in accordance with Appendix V, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
13. Worker Qualified for Non Voltage Work (NVW) or Work in the Vicinity of Live Parts(WVLP)
An Authorised Worker who possesses specialized knowledge in the field of electrical installations, due to his approved, professional or university training, or certified experience of two years or more.
Besides the all the work listed for Authorised Workers, a worker certified by the Organisation as a Qualified Worker may carry out one or more of the following jobs:
- Operations and manoeuvres to suppress or re-establish the power supply in HV installations (in accordance with Appendix II, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Manipulation, measuring and checking of HV installations (in accordance with Appendix IV, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Replacement of HV live fuses, always applying the remote working method (in accordance with Appendix III, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001).
- Preparation of jobs in the vicinity of HV installations (in accordance with Appendix V, Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001). In order to carry out this preparation work, besides being a Qualified Worker for NVW/WVLP, the worker must be the Foreman or Works Supervisor of the corresponding works.
14. Foreman
The worker designated by the employer to assume effective responsibility for the jobs to be done.
An essential requirement is that the Foreman must be qualified for NVW/WVLP, in accordance with Spanish Royal Decree 614/2001.
15. Preventive Resource Figure
A worker qualified to oversee the fulfilment of the prevention and protection measures included in the Health and Safety Plan, check the efficacy of these measures and control the proper application of work methods.
16. Non-Voltage Work (NVW)
Work on electrical installations that is carried out after having taken all the necessary measures to maintain the installation dead (i.e. after having suppressed the voltage).
